Peacock Blue Handwoven Pure Silk Kanchipuram Saree with Ornate Peacock Border

Peacock Blue Handwoven Pure Silk Kanchipuram Saree with Ornate Peacock Border

Chosen for a Mother's Day brunch where a daughter gifts her mother a Kanjeevaram, this rich peacock blue pure silk Kanchipuram saree is handwoven in the Butta style, with beautifully defined antique gold zari motifs scattered across the body, each butta catching the light with remarkable clarity against the deep blue silk. Each saree takes 40 days from dyeing to weaving and cannot be replicated by machine. This saree is handwoven by our partner weaver families in Kunnam village in Kanchipuram district. Read our story.

Handwoven to order, not mass-produced. Handwoven to order over 40 days — dyeing through to the final weave, no two pieces identical.

The Butta body is handwoven in a rich peacock blue pure mulberry silk, each antique gold zari butta placed with careful spacing so the deep ground colour remains the star.

The broad border is particularly striking, combining antique gold zari with raspberry and vermilion silk-thread accents. Elaborately handwoven peacock motifs and Vanasringaram-inspired ornamental details travel through the border, surrounded by finely woven decorative bands. The richly ornamented woven pallu carries the same visual language for a dramatic finish when draped.

Styling Tip

Anchor the peacock blue body with a deep raspberry raw-silk blouse pulled straight from the border, in a boat neck that lets ruby-set temple earrings take the lead. Keep the neckline bare, wear the pallu open over the shoulder to show off the peacock zari work, and finish with a clean centre-parted low bun.

Blouse Piece Included: 0.8m self-colour deep raspberry piece, with complimentary tailoring through August 27 ($30 value). See our Blouse Stitching Guide.
