Peacock Blue-Green Handwoven Pure Silk Kanjipuram Varisaipet Saree with Petite Buttas and Multi-Motif Zari Border
Peacock Blue-Green Handwoven Pure Silk Kanjipuram Varisaipet Saree with Petite Buttas and Multi-Motif Zari Border
Peacock Blue and green meet within the same silk in this handwoven Pure Silk Kanjipuram Varisaipet saree, creating a beautiful shot-colour effect that shifts subtly with the light. At one angle the body reads as luminous peacock blue; at another, a richer green undertone emerges. Petite gold zari buttas are scattered across this changing field, adding restrained points of light without interrupting the colour.
❖ Handwoven to order over 42 days — dyeing through to the final weave, no two pieces identical.

This is a confirmed Varisaipet composition in pure mulberry silk, with multiple horizontal zari registers stacked one above another to build its border. A saree of this type typically represents approximately 8 to 10 active days on the loom, although individual weaving time varies. Woven for Idam Living by skilled artisan families in the Kanchipuram district of Tamil Nadu. Read our story.
Body, Border and Pallu: The body remains deliberately spacious so the double-colour silk can remain part of the design. Small zari buttas appear at measured intervals, their scale allowing the natural handwoven lustre and shifting Peacock Blue-Green tone to stay visible. The border is built almost like a woven archive of motifs: multiple handwoven zari stripes are stacked one above another, alternating fine geometric bands, circular ornamental forms, bird-like motifs and broader figurative registers, with deep maroon and forest-green lines separating the gold sections and a closely woven lower zari band anchoring the composition. The pallu continues this abundance in deep maroon and gold, arranged through multiple vertical ornamental registers surrounding a densely woven central field. Explore the Varisaipet collection, or browse the wider pure silk Kanchipuram collection for more of this character.
Styling: A deep green blouse will amplify the green undertone in the shot silk, while aubergine or maroon will draw directly from the pallu. Antique gold jewellery and a polished low bun will complement the richly stacked Varisaipet border while allowing the unusual Peacock Blue-Green body to remain the first impression.
