Peacock Blue Emerald Shot Silk Handwoven Pure Silk Kanchipuram Saree with Mayil Zari Border
Peacock Blue Emerald Shot Silk Handwoven Pure Silk Kanchipuram Saree with Mayil Zari Border
This handwoven pure silk Kanjipuram has an unusually rich jewel-toned colour story. The body shifts between deep peacock blue, midnight indigo and flashes of emerald green, creating an elusive shot-silk effect in which the colour seems to change as the folds catch the light.
❖ Handwoven to order over 40 days — dyeing through to the final weave, no two pieces identical.

The body follows a restrained Butta composition, with petite individually woven gold zari motifs scattered across the blue-green silk. Their measured spacing adds small points of light without interrupting the extraordinary depth of the shot colour. Explore our pure silk Kanchipuram collection.
The border is the dramatic element. A narrow line of deep raspberry-magenta creates a jewel-bright transition before opening into elaborate antique-gold appearance zari. Large Mayil, or peacock, motifs appear in stately procession amid curling floral and paisley-like ornament, followed by finely worked geometric zari registers beneath.
The pallu carries the richness further, moving into a deep raspberry-red and magenta ground densely woven with antique-gold appearance zari. A fine geometric field and ornamental paneling give it a luminous, tapestry-like finish against the cooler blue-green body.
The effect is almost like peacock feathers at dusk: blue-green silk, a sudden raspberry edge and warm gold zari. Traditional in vocabulary yet unusually painterly in colour, it has the unmistakable character of Kanchipuram silk with a particularly sophisticated shot-silk presence.
Styling: Keep the blouse tonal or deliberately contrasting. Deep teal, emerald, aubergine or raspberry silk would all work beautifully. Choose one strong pair of antique-gold earrings and keep the neckline clean so the shifting body colour and Mayil border remain the focal points.
