Woven in the Varisaipet tradition, A radiant orchid-pink silk body with gentle kathiripoo-lilac undertones is set with small scattered gold buttas and understated linear silk texture. Across the light the colour shifts between flower-petal pink and soft lavender. Handwoven by artisan weaver families in Kanchipuram district, Tamil Nadu, for Idam Living. A saree of this complexity represents approximately 16 or more active days on the loom, with exact weaving time varying according to the individual saree. Read our story.

Border: Traditional Varisaipet is expressed in ordered bands of luminous gold zari, compact floral and figurative registers, and broad metallic panels. The repeated rows frame the pink without overwhelming it; the same multi-band border is intended to finish the blouse sleeves.

Pallu: The grand pink pallu becomes richly ornamental through a field of small repeated gold zari figures, vertical woven lines and a dense gold-edged terminal panel. The layered registers create an intricate finish while preserving the saree's tonal softness.

Styling: Choose a matching orchid silk blouse with a deep V front and elegant elbow sleeves finished in the Varisaipet border. A dull-gold tissue blouse gives it evening polish. Add pearl drops, one gold cuff and loosely pinned jasmine rather than a heavy necklace.

Frequently bought together

What does Varisaipet mean in this pink Kanjeevaram?
Varisaipet refers to the sequence of traditional border bands. On this saree, repeated gold zari registers make a rhythmic frame around the orchid-pink body.
Is the body plain or does it have motifs?
The body carries small, spaced gold buttas and subtle silk lines. These remain quieter than the intricate border and pallu.
Can the blouse match the saree border?
The running blouse is planned with the corresponding Varisaipet border treatment. The decorative rows can be considered for an elbow-length sleeve edge.
What jewellery complements this orchid-pink silk?
Pearls, restrained antique gold or soft-toned kundan jewellery suit its gold zari and flower-pink colour. A clean neckline balances the layered border.
Are small variations expected in handwoven silk?
Minor shifts in yarn tension or motif spacing can be part of handloom construction. Actual damage or substantial defects should not be dismissed as natural variation.
