Orange and purple in pure silk — it is the combination of a Kanchipuram weaver who understands that some colour pairings exist beyond the reach of fashion, rooted instead in the chromatic grammar of temple art. This Zari Kattam KanchiPattu wears the pairing with festival-season confidence, the warm orange body and the cool purple border held together by the gold that runs through both. Zari Kattam brings fine zari threads intersecting across the silk body to form a luminous grid — a weave that gives even a plain body a life beyond its single colour. The body is a warm orange-red in pure mulberry silk — the colour of temple garlands, of turmeric at its most vivid, of the festive palette that belongs to Navarathri and Karthigai Deepam. The Zari Kattam fine gold grid covers the body surface in an all-over shimmer, the intersecting zari threads sitting lightly over the silk. No butta, no motifs — the ZK grid and the orange silk are the complete statement of the body.

The border moves into deep purple — a cool, anchoring contrast — with Rettapet twin parallel gold zari lines framing the full border width and dense horizontal gold bands in geometric Seepu Reku patterns filling the interior. The pallu carries the purple and gold further, the Rettapet structure giving the border a layered, almost architectural composition. A saree that earns its place at every significant celebration.
