16 Days on Loom
Pure Mulberry Silk
Handwoven in Kanchipuram
Like a dusk-lit magenta lotus beneath temple lamps, radiant Oodha purple mingles with fuchsia-pink and warm gold, while deeper aubergine shadows lend the silk an old-Kanchi splendour. The body is covered in a fine Zari Kattam, an intersecting grid of silver- and gold-toned zari, scattered with Kamalam lotus buttas. Handwoven by artisan weaver families in Kanchipuram district, Tamil Nadu, for Idam Living. A saree of this complexity represents approximately 16 active days on the loom, with exact weaving time varying according to the individual saree. Read our story.
