Olive Turmeric Gold Handwoven Pure Silk Kanjipuram Korvai Saree with Paal Vellai Gold Zari Border
Olive Turmeric Gold Handwoven Pure Silk Kanjipuram Korvai Saree with Paal Vellai Gold Zari Border
Olive Turmeric Gold gives this handwoven Pure Silk Kanjipuram Korvai an unusually earthy warmth. The body sits between turmeric yellow and mellow gold, softened by a subtle olive undertone reminiscent of turmeric root touched by leaf-green depth. Against it, the Paal Vellai border appears luminous and quiet, like fresh jasmine petals beside antique temple gold.
❖ Handwoven to order, not mass-produced — each saree is individually woven by hand, thread by thread.
The body is deliberately restrained. Small classic-gold zari buttas are spaced across the Olive Turmeric Gold silk so that the unusual colour remains the dominant surface. Rather than covering the body with heavy ornament, the measured zari placement allows the mellow yellow-gold and olive undertone to remain clearly visible.
Handwoven in Kanchipuram, Tamil Nadu, for Idam Living. This saree is a confirmed Korvai, the traditional Kanchipuram construction in which contrasting body and border sections are structurally interlocked during weaving. Read our story.
Border: The contrast turns to Paal Vellai, a soft jasmine ivory framed by broad bands of classic gold zari. Alternating ornamental registers bring together fine geometric lines, floral medallions, Maanga-inspired forms and smaller traditional decorative bands. The broad central zari panel has the quiet warmth of antique temple gold rather than an excessively bright metallic appearance.
Mundhanai: The pallu becomes substantially richer, with classic gold zari spreading across the Paal Vellai field through a fine geometric ground and long ornamental vertical registers. The greater density of gold gives the mundhanai an architectural presence while the ivory ground keeps the composition luminous.
Styling: An Olive Turmeric Gold blouse keeps the unusual body colour uninterrupted, while Paal Vellai creates a softer ceremonial contrast. Antique-gold jewellery works naturally with the warm zari, while pearls can quietly echo the jasmine-ivory border. Finish with muted olive, ivory or antique-gold accessories rather than introducing another bright colour.
Current Look: An editorial connection to the renewed interest in warm yellow Kanjivaram silk and restrained gold ornament can be seen in recent ceremonial dressing. Samantha Ruth Prabhu’s September 2026 Kanjivaram appearance paired a soft yellow silk field with delicate zari bootis and a heritage gold border. This Idam Living Korvai is a separate handwoven design, distinguished by its earthier Olive Turmeric Gold body and luminous Paal Vellai ivory contrast.
Its turmeric-root gold, jasmine ivory and classic zari make it particularly suited to Navratri and Golu gatherings, Vijayadashami, Deepavali celebrations, Karthigai Deepam, weddings, temple programs, classical performances and other festive occasions, ceremonies, cultural gatherings and special occasions.
Care: Dry clean only. Store folded in a soft muslin cloth away from direct sunlight. Do not spray perfume directly on the silk or zari.
