Woven in the Butta tradition, A vivid Neelam blue pure silk body, like evening blue before the sky turns dark, is scattered with petite Mayil Chakram zari buttas and round gold medallions. The contrasting fabric visible at the fold is deep Arakku berry red. Handwoven by artisan weaver families in Kanchipuram district, Tamil Nadu, for Idam Living. A saree of this complexity represents approximately 14 or more active days on the loom, with exact weaving time varying according to the individual saree. Read our story.

Border: A broad royal-blue border with antique-gold zari rows of scrolling floral and stylised bird motifs, joined by fine red-accented geometric stripes and a narrow patterned edging.

Pallu: A grand blue pallu with closely layered zari bands, scrolling floral panels and rich figurative ornaments, set alongside the visible deep Arakku red contrast section.

Styling: Try a plain deep-Arakku blouse to repeat the contrasting fold or keep the blouse royal blue for a more monochromatic effect. Antique-gold jewellery and a neatly arranged pallu will let the broad ornamental border carry the visual emphasis.

What makes this a Butta Kanchipuram saree?
Butta refers to the individual woven motifs spaced across the body. In this saree, Mayil Chakram motifs and small circular zari medallions punctuate the silk, while the border and pallu are substantially richer.
Does this saree include both blue and Arakku red?
Yes. A rich blue body is paired with a deep berry-Arakku contrast visible on the folded silk. The colours create a bold two-tone presentation.
Where is the most detailed gold zari work?
The blue body has well-spaced Mayil Chakram buttas. The broad border and pallu carry much denser ornate floral and figurative zari panels.
What blouse would highlight the two-tone colour story?
Royal blue will keep the look coordinated; deep Arakku red will deliberately emphasise the contrast. Idam Living can discuss custom stitching and sleeve options.
What is Silk Mark certification for?
Silk Mark concerns silk authenticity, not the identity of a particular border motif or the purity of the zari. Idam Living provides its Silk Mark authorised-user information on the product page.
