Naval Blue Handwoven Pure Silk Kanchipuram Saree with Varisaipet Border
Naval Blue Handwoven Pure Silk Kanchipuram Saree with Varisaipet Border
For a gathering that calls for the quiet authority of Kanchipuram silk, this deep Neelam blue Varisaipet saree brings colour and movement into conversation. Fine bands of zari catch the light with each fold, while the richly arranged border lends a ceremonial finish.
❖ Made to order, not off a shelf. This saree spent roughly 16 active days on the loom, in addition to dyeing, threading and finishing.

Woven in the Varisaipet tradition, the saree is framed by a sequence of traditional border bands, each one contributing a distinct rhythm. Across the body, different fine Veldhari zari lines create a shifting radiance as the silk moves and folds. Handwoven by artisan weaver families in Kanchipuram district, Tamil Nadu, for Idam Living. A saree of this complexity represents approximately 16 or more active days on the loom, with exact weaving time varying according to the individual saree. Read our story.
Body: Deep midnight Neelam blue with finely spaced gold zari Veldhari bands, reminiscent of narrow streaks of moonlight on still water.
Border: A wide thanga-gold Varisaipet arrangement with dark Maragatham emerald-green and deep blue horizontal bands, framed by magenta-pink selvedge; closely worked circular ornamental medallions and small geometric zari registers.
Pallu: A Kathiripoo mauve-purple field with repeating narrow gold zari vertical bands, a rich green-and-gold striped end register, and rose-pink tassels.
Styling: Wear with a muted gold or deep green blouse, antique-gold jhumkas and a low bun. Let the striped blue body gather into clean pleats while the mauve pallu falls loosely over the shoulder. Especially beautiful for a winter wedding, an evening concert or a family celebration.
