Muted Vadamalli Purple Handwoven Pure Silk Kanjivaram Butta Saree with Antique Gold Leaf Buttas, Elephant Motif Border and Burnt Orange Selvedge
Muted Vadamalli Purple gives this handwoven pure silk Kanjivaram Butta saree a quiet jewel-toned depth. Small antique-gold leaf buttas are individually spaced across the body, allowing the silk to remain open and luminous between each motif.

This is a confirmed Butta composition in pure mulberry silk, with small individually spaced zari motifs set against an open silk ground, leaving the body relatively uncluttered between each motif. This particular piece represents approximately 29 active days on the loom, though weaving time varies by piece. Woven for Idam Living by skilled artisan families in the Kanchipuram district of Tamil Nadu. Read our story.
Body, Border and Pallu: The purple moves between dusky violet, muted plum and deeper aubergine tones through the folds. Against this restrained colour, the fine antique-gold buttas appear warm and delicate rather than heavily ornamental. The border introduces a traditional elephant motif register framed by fine antique-gold zari bands and geometric detailing. A narrow Burnt Orange selvedge finishes the edge, creating a warm contrast against the cooler purple silk. The pallu becomes considerably richer, with a dense antique-gold field of repeating circular floral forms, geometric lattice and long traditional woven registers. Pair it with Muted Vadamalli Purple for a tonal blouse, Burnt Orange for stronger contrast, or antique gold for a more ceremonial treatment.
