Muted Olive Green Handwoven Pure Silk Kanjivaram Butta Saree with Royal Purple Border, Antique Gold Zari Buttas and Grand Mayil Motif Zari Work
This handwoven Pure Silk Kanjivaram brings together Muted Olive Green, Royal Purple and antique gold in a beautifully unusual colour composition. The softened olive body has a quiet, earthy elegance that allows the elaborate traditional zari work to take centre stage.
❖ Made to order, not off a shelf. This saree took 40 days — dyeing, threading, and roughly 16 on the loom — to complete.

This is a confirmed Butta composition in pure mulberry silk, with individually woven decorative motifs placed at measured intervals across the body silk. A saree of this type typically represents approximately 16 active days on the loom, although individual weaving time varies. Woven for Idam Living by skilled artisan families in the Kanchipuram district of Tamil Nadu. Read our story.
Body, Border and Pallu: Across the body, individually woven antique gold zari buttas appear at measured intervals, giving the silk subtle points of light while preserving the calm character of the olive ground. The border is the defining feature — against a saturated Royal Purple field, large antique gold zari Mayil motifs unfold in an ornate repeating sequence, surrounded by curling vines and floral detailing, with a deep raspberry woven section adding another layer of colour beneath the main motif band. The pallu develops the antique gold zari into a dense geometric field, complemented by further traditional Mayil and floral registers. Explore the Butta collection, or browse the wider pure silk Kanchipuram collection for more of this character.
Styling: Echo the Royal Purple border with a matching blouse and allow the elaborate zari motifs to become the focal point. Antique temple jewellery would complement the old-gold effect beautifully, while a touch of deep raspberry in the blouse piping or embroidery can pick up the subtle accent woven into the border.
