Multicolour Handwoven Pure Silk Kanjivaram Paalum Pazhamum Saree with Rani Pink Grand Antique Gold Pallu

Multicolour Handwoven Pure Silk Kanjivaram Paalum Pazhamum Saree with Rani Pink Grand Antique Gold Pallu

For a milestone family celebration where each generation wants something different yet complementary, this Multicolour Handwoven Pure Silk Kanjivaram Paalum Pazhamum saree offers an expressive field of large woven colour blocks. Warm Ivory, Sandalwood Beige, mustard gold, dusty rose, lavender pink, muted rust and Rani Pink move across the silk in a broad checked composition, with small antique-gold zari motifs woven selectively within the squares.

❖ Made to order, not off a shelf. This saree took 42 days — dyeing, threading, and roughly 16 on the loom — to complete.

This is a confirmed Paalum Pazhamum composition in pure mulberry silk, with large alternating woven colour blocks forming its distinctive checked structure and small antique-gold zari motifs set individually within selected squares. A saree of this type typically represents approximately 16 to 20 active days on the loom, although individual weaving time varies. Woven for Idam Living by skilled artisan families in the Kanchipuram district of Tamil Nadu. Read our story.

Body, Border and Pallu: The body moves through Warm Ivory and Sandalwood Beige blocks that keep the composition light, mustard gold and muted rust that bring warmth, and dusty rose and lavender pink that soften the palette, with Rani Pink appearing intermittently as the checks' most saturated note. A cleaner antique-gold zari field frames the body, with fine traditional geometric edging, Rani Pink framing and a narrow ornamental register that keeps the border comparatively restrained. The Grand Pallu shifts completely into Rani Pink and antique gold, with an expansive antique-gold lattice, long vertical ornamental registers and a dense zari surface giving it a far more ceremonial finish than the playful checked body. Explore the Paalum Pazhamum collection, or browse the wider pure silk Kanchipuram collection for more of this character.

Styling: Pull one colour directly from the checks for the blouse. Rani Pink creates the strongest connection to the pallu, while Warm Ivory, mustard gold or dusty rose offer softer alternatives. Antique-gold jewellery works naturally across the entire palette, making this saree especially versatile for weddings, temple celebrations, festive gatherings and Indian cultural occasions.

Frequently bought together

What makes this multicolour saree a Paalum Pazhamum?
The body is constructed through large woven blocks of contrasting colours arranged as a broad checked field. This multicolour checked composition gives the saree its Paalum Pazhamum identity.
Which colours are woven through the checked body?
The body combines Warm Ivory, Sandalwood Beige, mustard gold, dusty rose, lavender pink, muted rust and Rani Pink. Antique-gold zari motifs appear selectively within the coloured squares.
Are the small gold motifs part of the weave?
Yes. The antique-gold motifs are individually woven into selected areas of the checked silk. They are woven zari details rather than embroidery or surface decoration.
Why is the pallu so different from the checked body?
The body is intentionally graphic and multicoloured, while the Grand Pallu becomes predominantly Rani Pink with a dense antique-gold geometric zari field. The contrast creates a more ceremonial finish at the end of the saree.
What blouse colours work with this Paalum Pazhamum saree?
Rani Pink creates the strongest connection to the pallu. Warm Ivory, mustard gold, dusty rose or lavender can each be pulled directly from the checked body for a softer coordinated blouse.
