Multicolour Handwoven Pure Silk Kanjivaram Paalum Pazhamum Saree with Royal Blue, Purple, Mustard and Copper Rose Grand Antique Gold Pallu

For a milestone family celebration where each generation wants something different yet complementary, this Multicolour Handwoven Pure Silk Kanjivaram Paalum Pazhamum saree is woven through a striking field of large multicolour checks. Royal Blue, Deep Purple, Raspberry Pink, Mustard Yellow, Sandalwood Beige, Copper Rust and muted olive-grey move across the body in broad alternating blocks, with selected squares carrying individually woven antique-gold zari motifs.

❖ Handwoven to order, not mass-produced — each Paalum Pazhamum check is set by hand on the loom, thread by thread.

This is a confirmed Paalum Pazhamum composition in pure mulberry silk, its large-scale multicolour kattam built from Royal Blue, Deep Purple, Raspberry Pink, Mustard Yellow, Sandalwood Beige, Copper Rust and olive-grey blocks with small antique-gold zari motifs set individually within selected squares. A saree of this type typically represents approximately 16 to 20 active days on the loom, although individual weaving time varies. Woven for Idam Living by skilled artisan families in the Kanchipuram district of Tamil Nadu. Read our story.

Body, Border and Pallu: Royal Blue and Deep Purple bring saturated jewel tones to the checked body, Mustard Yellow and Sandalwood Beige soften the palette with warmth, and Copper Rust and olive-grey give the composition a heritage quality, with Raspberry Pink and magenta bridging the checks toward the warmer border and pallu. The border introduces a broad antique-gold zari field with alternating tonal blocks that echo the body colours, fine ornamental edging and raspberry-purple framing. The Grand Pallu shifts completely into a warm Copper Rose ground beneath a dense all-over antique-gold woven field, with long parallel ornamental registers and fine vertical zari patterning giving it a far more ceremonial, continuous texture than the graphic checked body. Explore the Paalum Pazhamum collection, or browse the wider pure silk Kanchipuram collection for more of this character.

Styling: Draw directly from one of the body colours for the blouse. Royal Blue or Deep Purple gives a jewel-toned pairing, Mustard creates a warmer traditional look, while Raspberry Pink connects naturally with the border and pallu. Antique-gold jewellery works across the entire multicolour palette, making this saree especially versatile for weddings, temple occasions, festive gatherings and Indian cultural celebrations.

Which colours appear across the checked silk body?
The checks combine Royal Blue, Deep Purple, Raspberry Pink, Mustard Yellow, Sandalwood Beige, Copper Rust and muted olive-grey, with antique-gold zari details woven into selected blocks.
Are the small gold motifs woven into the checks?
Yes. Small antique-gold zari motifs are individually woven into selected squares. They include circular, floral and paisley-inspired traditional forms.
How is the Grand Pallu different from the body?
The body is graphic and multicoloured, while the Grand Pallu shifts into a warmer Copper Rose ground with dense antique-gold geometric and ornamental weaving.
