Multicolour Handwoven Pure Silk Kancheepuram Paalum Pazhamum Saree with Zari Border

Multicolour Handwoven Pure Silk Kancheepuram Paalum Pazhamum Saree with Zari Border

The Indian classical music festival in New York City calls for a saree that dances between colour and craftsmanship. Multiple coloured silk threads intersect to form vibrant woven checks across the body — the hallmark of the Paalum Pazhamum weave — enhanced with delicate zari buttas for subtle shimmer. Each saree takes 42 days from dyeing to weaving and cannot be replicated by machine. This saree is handwoven by our partner weaver families in Kunnam village in Kanchipuram district. Read our story.

Handwoven to order, not mass-produced. From raw silk to finished saree: 42 days, including about 16 of hand-weaving on the loom.
● Silk Mark Certified ● 16 Days on Loom ● Pure Mulberry Silk ● Handwoven in Kanchipuram

The body is a vibrant multicolour jewel-tone Paalum Pazhamum weave in pure mulberry silk — rich emerald green, ruby pink, golden yellow, teal, and warm amber balanced across the drape, scattered with delicate gold zari buttas. This is a signature pure silk Kanchipuram weave, prized for its vivid, timeless checks.

The contrasting zari-woven border is adorned with intricate traditional motifs, lending this weave the unmistakable elegance of a classic Kanchipuram silk. The pallu continues the same zari detailing in a fuller sweep. Discover more Kanchipuram ceremonial silks.

Comfortable to drape and effortless to wear, this saree is perfect for festive gatherings, temple visits, intimate weddings, and celebrations. Pair with a solid emerald or gold silk blouse and antique gold jewellery for a vibrant, festive finish.
