Mayil Kazhuthu gives this handwoven Pure Silk Kancheepuram the shifting blue-green colour of a peacock’s neck beneath changing light. The silk moves from jewel green into peacock blue, with deeper Neelam-like shadows appearing through the folds, creating a traditional shot colour that cannot be reduced to flat blue, green or teal.

The body is structured in a pronounced classic-gold Zari Kattam, with intersecting zari lines creating generous checked compartments across the changing blue-green silk. Mayil buttas alternate with circular Chakram medallions within the grid, giving the body a measured architectural rhythm associated with traditional Kanchipuram design.

Border: A broad field of classic gold anchors the lower edge, framed by fine geometric Reku-style lines. Along the outer register, repeated Yaanai motifs form a stately procession, giving the border the visual character of a temple frieze against the shifting Mayil Kazhuthu silk.

Mundhanai: The pallu becomes considerably more elaborate. A dense classic-gold lattice field is bordered by long figurative panels of repeated Yaanai, surrounded by narrow geometric zari bands that create a layered architectural rhythm. The composition recalls elephants moving along carved temple friezes translated into silk.

Styling: A tonal Mayil Kazhuthu blouse allows the shot colour to remain uninterrupted, while deep Neelam blue or dark emerald can emphasise one side of the blue-green shift. Antique-gold or temple jewellery works naturally with the broad zari, while restrained emerald or sapphire accents can quietly echo the changing silk.
