Mayil Kazhuthu Green Handwoven Pure Silk Kanjivaram Butta Saree with Royal Purple Border, Antique Gold Zari Buttas and Grand Yanai Motif Zari Work
Mayil Kazhuthu Green gives this handwoven Pure Silk Kanjivaram Butta saree an unusually luminous blue-green depth. The jewel-toned body is punctuated by individually woven antique gold zari buttas, creating measured points of light across the silk.
❖ Nothing here comes off a shelf. 40 days of dyeing, threading, and weaving go into every saree, 16 of that on the loom.

This is a confirmed Butta composition in pure mulberry silk, with individually woven decorative motifs placed at measured intervals across the body silk. A saree of this type typically represents approximately 16 active days on the loom, although individual weaving time varies. Woven for Idam Living by skilled artisan families in the Kanchipuram district of Tamil Nadu. Read our story.
Body, Border and Pallu: The Royal Purple border introduces a dramatic contrast and carries the most elaborate decorative work of the saree — large Yanai, or elephant, motifs woven in antique gold zari beneath beautifully curved ornamental arches, surrounded by scrolling botanical details. Above the main motif panel, delicate floral zari bands and finely repeated ornamental registers create a precise transition from the green body into the richer border, with deep green accents woven subtly through the composition. The pallu becomes even more elaborate, with Royal Purple silk arranged in vertical antique gold zari bands and richly woven traditional motif panels. Explore the Butta collection, or browse the wider pure silk Kanchipuram collection for more of this character.
Styling: Pair it with a Royal Purple blouse to echo the border and allow the antique gold Yanai motifs to remain the focus. Antique temple jewellery would complement the figurative zari beautifully, while a narrow Deep Green piping detail can subtly pick up the accent woven through the border and pallu.
