Mayil Kazhuthu Blue Green Handwoven Pure Silk Kanjivaram Butta Saree with Royal Purple Contrast, Antique Gold Zari Buttas and Grand Mayil Border
Mayil Kazhuthu blue-green gives this handwoven pure silk Kanjivaram Butta saree a striking colour-shifting body. The silk moves between blue, teal and green as it catches the light, creating the distinctive peacock-neck effect associated with this traditional colour language.

This is a confirmed Butta composition in pure mulberry silk, with small individually spaced zari motifs set against an open silk ground, leaving the body relatively uncluttered between each motif. This particular piece represents approximately 28 active days on the loom, though weaving time varies by piece. Woven for Idam Living by skilled artisan families in the Kanchipuram district of Tamil Nadu. Read our story.
Body, Border and Pallu: The cooler blue-green body is framed by saturated Royal Purple, where individually spaced antique-gold zari buttas introduce points of warm metallic light. Fine woven lines across the body heighten its radiance. The broad border becomes considerably richer with large antique-gold Mayil motifs, traditional ornamental scrollwork, geometric registers and a wide diamond-textured zari field against the Royal Purple ground. The pallu develops into long, densely woven antique-gold registers against Royal Purple silk, creating a grand structured finish. Pair it with Royal Purple for the strongest contrast, Mayil Kazhuthu blue-green for a tonal treatment, or antique gold for a more formal blouse.
