Mayil Kazhuthu Blue Ettukol Pure Silk Kancheepuram Saree with Gold Temple Peaks

Mayil Kazhuthu Blue Ettukol Pure Silk Kancheepuram Saree with Gold Temple Peaks

The shifting blue-green of a peacock’s neck, held in pure silk. Somewhere between the depth of a monsoon sky and the brilliance of turquoise water, this luminous Kancheepuram is remarkable for its restraint.

❖ This saree was woven over 25 days on the loom in Kanchipuram, using Silk Mark certified pure silk, by weaver families whose craft has been passed down for generations.

Structured as a classic Ettukol composition, this pure mulberry silk Kancheepuram features a traditional eight-shuttle construction that lifts the border into tall temple-like peaks. A saree of this type typically represents approximately 25 or more active days on the loom, with exact weaving time varying according to the individual saree. Handwoven by artisan weaver families in Kanchipuram district, Tamil Nadu, for Idam Living. Read our story.

Border: The Ettukol composition rises as elongated silver-gold temple-like peaks from the edge of the blue body. Crisp geometry and a fine blue selvedge give the border its architectural character.

Pallu: A gleaming silver-gold pallu is intersected by narrow blue woven lines, its soft metallic movement echoing the same cool blue tones. Blue tassels finish the edge.

Styling: Choose a handloom blouse in the same peacock blue, with delicate gold piping, or wear a plain pewter-silver silk blouse. Keep jewellery minimal: a single gold necklace or old-silver jhumkas. It suits Diwali evenings, Karthigai Deepam temple celebrations, cultural receptions and winter wedding guest looks.
