Marigold Handwoven Pure Silk Kancheepuram Saree with Ganga Jamuna Zari Kattam Rettapet Border
Marigold Handwoven Pure Silk Kancheepuram Saree with Ganga Jamuna Zari Kattam Rettapet Border
There is a marigold that belongs to temple garlands and harvest celebrations — warm, generous, and impossible to ignore. This marigold Kancheepuram carries that quality into silk. The body is woven in Zari Kattam, where fine zari threads intersect across the silk body to form a luminous grid, the warm yellow ground turning every gold intersection into something richer than either colour alone.
The body is marigold — full, luminous, and deeply warm — and the Zari Kattam gold grid runs across it in fine intersecting lines, the gold on gold creating a body that glows from within rather than reflecting from the surface. This is the Kancheepuram that reads as celebration before the border is even seen.
The border is a Ganga Jamuna Rettapet — twin parallel border lines that create a balanced layered edge, with bottle green on one side and deep maroon on the other. The dual-colour border grounds the marigold body in a three-colour combination — marigold, green, maroon — that is among the most traditional in the Kanchipuram weaver's vocabulary. The pallu carries both border colours forward with the same Rettapet gold zari structure.
A bottle green, deep maroon, or raw silk gold blouse each opens a different interpretation. Gold jewellery — temple chains, jhumkas, and broad bangles — completes the look naturally. For Pongal, harvest festivals, weddings, or any occasion where warmth is the intention.
