Maragatham Green Handwoven Pure Silk Kanjipuram Paalum Pazhamum Saree with Malli Moggu Buttas
Maragatham Green Handwoven Pure Silk Kanjipuram Paalum Pazhamum Saree with Malli Moggu Buttas
Maragatham green runs like a river beside bands of kesari orange and Vadamalli flowers. Raspberry-pink silk and glinting gold lines cross into Paalum Pazhamum checks; Malli Moggu buttas add little floral sparks, while the striped seer pallu brings a calm finish.
❖ Woven by hand in Kanchipuram over 19 days on the loom, a piece of a centuries-old weaving tradition, made with certified pure silk.

Woven in the Paalum Pazhamum tradition, this saree brings traditional paalum pazhamum multicolour checks with broad sections of deep maragatham green, kesari orange, vadamalli purple-magenta and raspberry pink, crossed by thin golden lines, with Malli Moggu buttas scattered across the body. Handwoven by artisan weaver families in Kanchipuram district, Tamil Nadu, for Idam Living. A saree of this complexity represents approximately 19 or more active days on the loom, with exact weaving time varying according to the individual saree. Read our story.
Border: Multicolour silk border with orange, pink and purple registers and narrow gold-toned linear edges framing the green checked body.
Pallu: A deep Maragatham-green seer pallu composed of dense, repeated narrow gold-toned lines and broader plain green registers, ending in a restrained gleaming zari-edged band.
Styling: A deep green or magenta blouse, gold hoops or delicate jhumkas and a neat braid make the colourwork shine. Wear it to Deepavali visits, temple gatherings, Pongal lunches or Indian-American cultural celebrations.
