Light Green Handwoven Korvai Kanjivaram Silk Saree with Bottle Green Border

Light Green Handwoven Korvai Kanjivaram Silk Saree with Bottle Green Border

A clear, luminous leaf green meets the deep shade of bottle green in a Korvai Kanjivaram defined by beautifully spaced borders and the glow of handwoven gold zari. The restrained body lets the contrast border and rich seer pallu take centre stage.

❖ Made to order, not off a shelf. This saree spent roughly 20 active days on the loom, in addition to dyeing, threading and finishing.

Woven in the Korvai tradition, the tender green silk body is joined to contrasting dark bottle-green borders, giving the saree its distinctive colour separation. The weave draws together thulir pachai, the green of new leaves, and the deeper shade of mature foliage, with gold zari illuminating the edges. It carries 2 g zari purity. Handwoven by artisan weaver families in Kanchipuram district, Tamil Nadu, for Idam Living. A saree of this complexity represents approximately 20 or more active days on the loom, with exact weaving time varying according to the individual saree. Read our story.

Border: The spacious double-border composition brings together bottle-green silk, lustrous gold zari bands and fine traditional ornamentation. The border framing is distinctly darker than the luminous green body.

Pallu: A richly woven seer pallu develops the bottle-green and gold contrast into broad alternating vertical zari panels and fine linear detailing, with ornamental gold bands completing the composition.

Styling: Pair it with a fitted bottle-green blouse with elbow-length sleeves, a narrow gold neckline and antique-gold temple jewellery. Fresh jasmine and a neatly pleated pallu complement the contrast. For a quieter look, choose a high-neck blouse in the same deep green with minimal gold piping.

A fitting choice for upcoming Deepavali gatherings, Karthigai Deepam celebrations, family ceremonies, temple visits and Pongal festivities.

Frequently bought together

What is Korvai in this green Kanjivaram saree?
Korvai is a traditional Kanchipuram construction in which contrasting body and border sections are interlocked during weaving. Here, the light leaf-green body meets a deeper bottle-green border with gold zari detailing.
What makes this double-border design distinctive?
The saree uses spacious, clearly separated bands of bottle-green silk and gold zari rather than a single narrow border. Against the light-green body, that layered framing becomes a prominent part of the drape.
What does the seer pallu look like?
The pallu changes from the plain leaf-green body to a much richer bottle-green and gold composition. Alternating zari panels and fine lines lend the shoulder drape a formal Kanchipuram character.
Can Idam Living stitch a blouse to complement this saree?
Yes. The saree includes a contrasting bottle-green running blouse piece, approximately 0.8 m. Idam Living offers optional custom blouse stitching; an elbow-length sleeve with understated gold piping would complement this border.
How should I care for the green silk and zari?
Dry clean only. Store the saree folded in soft muslin away from direct sunlight, and avoid spraying perfume directly on the silk or zari. Refold periodically to avoid long-term creases.
