Lavender Silver Handwoven Pure Silk Kanjivaram Butta Saree with Royal Purple Contrast, Antique Gold Mayil Yanai Border and Grand Woven Pallu

Cool Lavender Silver gives this handwoven pure silk Kanjivaram Butta saree an unusual softness before the colour deepens into saturated Royal Purple. The body carries a delicate woven grid and subtle metallic texture.

This is a confirmed Butta composition in pure mulberry silk, with small individually spaced zari motifs set against an open silk ground, leaving the body relatively uncluttered between each motif. This particular piece represents approximately 30 active days on the loom, though weaving time varies by piece. Woven for Idam Living by skilled artisan families in the Kanchipuram district of Tamil Nadu. Read our story.

Body, Border and Pallu: Individually spaced antique-gold buttas punctuate the richer purple sections, and the pale body moves between silvery lavender, soft lilac and muted violet, while the Royal Purple contrast becomes intensely jewel-toned. The border is richly traditional, combining large Mayil motifs, a repeating Yanai elephant register, diamond-textured zari and multiple ornamental bands. The scale and layering give the saree a particularly grand Kanchipuram character. The pallu expands further into dense antique-gold weaving with a fine lattice, traditional figural registers and elaborate framing. Pair it with Royal Purple for the strongest coordinated blouse, Lavender Silver for a quieter tonal look, or antique gold for a ceremonial finish.
