Soft lavender silk is framed by royal purple in this richly ornamented Varisaipet Kanjivaram. The multi-band border carries repeated peacock motifs, with silk thread interwoven alongside zari to create additional colour within the traditional linear arrangement. Handwoven by artisan weaver families in Kanchipuram district, Tamil Nadu, for Idam Living. A saree of this complexity represents approximately 16 or more active days on the loom, with exact weaving time varying according to the individual saree. Read our story.

Border: Deep royal purple is layered with warm zari, turquoise-blue silk-thread accents and repeated handwoven peacock motifs.

Pallu: The pallu becomes richly worked in royal purple with large ornamental zari forms, peacock registers and stacked linear bands.

Styling: Use a royal-purple blouse for a continuous border line or pick up the narrow turquoise accents through piping. Antique gold earrings and a restrained neckpiece are sufficient with the elaborate pallu.

Well suited to Navratri, Vijayadashami, Diwali, weddings, receptions, classical performances, temple gatherings, festive occasions, ceremonies and cultural gatherings.

What makes this a Varisaipet Kanjivaram?
Varisaipet uses repeated traditional border bands to create a rhythmic linear frame. Here those bands are enriched with peacock motifs and coloured silk-thread accents.
Are the peacock motifs only on the border?
No. Peacock motifs appear as spaced body buttas and are repeated more prominently through the border treatment.
How would you style the lavender and purple combination?
A royal-purple blouse gives the cleanest continuation of the border. Antique gold jewellery works naturally with the zari, while turquoise piping can subtly pick up the secondary thread colour.
Can Idam Living stitch a blouse for this saree?
Yes. Custom blouse stitching is available to measurements.
Why can the colour look slightly different in different light?
Pure silk reflects light differently across folds and angles. Screen settings and photography can also alter lavender and purple tones, so daylight photos or video can be requested.
