Woven in the Rettapet tradition, this saree reveals Cool lavender-pink silk, like an orchid petal in morning light, carrying spaced deep-violet silk-thread square buttas enclosing small ornamental forms. Handwoven by artisan weaver families in Kanchipuram district, Tamil Nadu, for Idam Living. A saree of this complexity represents approximately 18 or more active days on the loom, with exact weaving time varying according to the individual saree. Read our story.
Border: A striking deep kathiripoo-violet Rettapet composition, with separate gold-zari geometric registers framing a richly dotted violet band. Tiny turquoise-green and pale gold kamalam-style floral buttas shimmer between the zari borders, giving the edge a jewel-like rhythm.
Pallu: A grand deep-violet pallu arranged in alternating broad bands of turquoise-green and gold buttas, plain violet silk, and densely handwoven gold geometric zari panels. The repeated diamond-and-scroll bands give it an architectural finish.
Styling: Try a jewel-violet raw-silk blouse with a square neckline and elbow sleeves, picking up the gold border on the cuff. A second option is turquoise-green piping around a lavender blouse. Finish with small gold jhumkas and a low bun, keeping the heavily woven pallu unfolded.
