Clearer and brighter than Arakku or maroon, the silk recalls fresh kumkum powder and pomegranate skin under sunlight, framed throughout by the warm glow of classic gold zari.

The body is built in a pronounced gold Zari Kattam, with intersecting zari lines forming generous square compartments across the red silk. Within this architectural grid, round Chakram-style medallions alternate with stylised bird buttas, creating a measured traditional rhythm rather than an all-over field of ornament.

Border: The lower edge is strongly temple-led. A broad field of classic gold zari glows against the Kumkumam Red silk, framed by geometric Reku-style bands and a figured ornamental register. Fine serrated detailing along the inner edge adds a crisp Kanchi finish, while the broad gold field recalls polished brass lamps inside a South Indian sanctum.
Mundhanai: The pallu becomes considerably richer. Dense classic-gold latticework is framed by long vertical ornamental registers and repeated figurative motifs, creating the effect of carved temple panels translated into silk. In softer light the zari reads as warmer antique gold, while direct light brings forward a brighter marigold-gold glow.
Styling: A tonal Kumkumam Red blouse keeps the ceremonial colour uninterrupted, while classic gold creates a more formal temple-led treatment.
