Kesari Orange Handwoven Pure Silk Kanjipuram Butta Saree with Green-Edged Gold Zari Border

Kesari Orange Handwoven Pure Silk Kanjipuram Butta Saree with Green-Edged Gold Zari Border

Kesari orange remains the dominant field of this Kanjipuram, interrupted only by small measured gold zari buttas. The border carries considerably more ornament, introducing fine green lines around a broad classic-gold figurative register before the pallu becomes almost fully gold-woven.

❖ Made to order, not off a shelf. This saree took 40 days — dyeing, threading, and roughly 14 on the loom — to complete.

This Kanjipuram is woven in a classic Butta composition in pure mulberry silk, with individually spaced classic-gold zari buttas placed across an otherwise open Kesari orange body. Handwoven by artisan weaver families in Kanchipuram district, Tamil Nadu, for Idam Living. A saree of this complexity represents approximately 14 or more active days on the loom, with exact weaving time varying according to the individual saree. Read our story.

Border: A broad classic-gold zari register carries repeated figurative animal forms, framed by fine green lines and narrow ornamental bands. The exact animal identity is intentionally left generic where the photograph does not support a more specific traditional name.

Pallu: The tonal orange pallu becomes densely metallic, with a fine classic-gold geometric field and broader ornamental side work that gives the endpiece substantially greater visual weight than the open body.

Styling: A deep leaf-green blouse will pick up the border lines, while a tonal Kesari blouse keeps the saree warmer and more continuous. Antique-gold earrings and jasmine will suit the temple-led palette without competing with the broad border.

The Kesari, green and gold combination works naturally for Vijayadashami, Deepavali, Karthigai Deepam, temple programs, weddings and family ceremonies.

Frequently bought together

What makes this Kesari Orange saree a Butta Kanjipuram?
Its open orange body is punctuated by individually spaced petite classic-gold zari buttas, making Butta the confirmed primary design classification.
How does the green-edged border affect the Kesari orange body?
Fine green accents create a crisp outline around the broader classic-gold border, adding contrast to the warm orange silk without overwhelming the body.
Does Kesari orange look different in daylight and evening light?
Yes. Daylight emphasises the saturated orange silk, while evening light brings greater prominence to the classic-gold zari buttas, border and richer pallu.
What blouse colour would work with the green-edged border?
A deep green blouse repeats the border accent, while tonal Kesari orange gives a more continuous look. Custom blouse stitching is available.
Is this saree Silk Mark certified?
The product is presented within Idam Living's Silk Mark-certified Pure Silk Kanchipuram offering, with the certification reference available through the product-page trust information.
