Kathiripoo Purple and Arakku Handwoven Pure Silk Kanjeevaram Saree with Mayil Chakram Buttas
The delicacy of Kathiripoo flower purple is brought into sharper focus by a deep Arakku border, like a purple blossom resting against red earth.
❖ Fourteen days of loom work went into this saree, handwoven in Kanchipuram district by artisan weaving families.

Woven in the Butta tradition, A soft Kathiripoo purple silk body, recalling petals in the early morning shade, features evenly spaced Mayil Chakram zari buttas and small round gold medallions. The cool lavender tone contrasts with the deeper edge. Handwoven by artisan weaver families in Kanchipuram district, Tamil Nadu, for Idam Living. A saree of this complexity represents approximately 14 or more active days on the loom, with exact weaving time varying according to the individual saree. Read our story.
Border: A broad deep Arakku maroon border featuring large antique-gold zari peacock and paisley-inspired forms between finely stacked small floral registers, dotted bands and narrow green-accented lines.
Pallu: A grand contrasting deep-Arakku pallu with alternating slim gold-zari bands and deep red-maroon silk fields, echoing the ornamented border.
Styling: A maroon blouse makes the deep border the anchor of the look, while a plain Kathiripoo blouse keeps the upper drape airy. Gold jhumkas, a neat pleat and a single flower in the hair are enough for a festive ceremony.
