Ivory Green Undertone Handwoven Pure Silk Kanjipuram Saree with Aubergine Korvai Mayil Zari Border
Chosen for a seemantham surprise, with aunts and cousins gifting silk to welcome the baby, this handwoven pure silk Kanjipuram is built around an unusually refined contrast between luminous ivory and deep aubergine-brown.

The body is a soft ivory with the faintest cool green undertone, giving the silk a subtle celadon-like cast rather than the warmth of cream or the starkness of white. Petite individually woven gold zari buttas are scattered across the body, creating delicate points of light while preserving the calmness of the open silk field.
The Korvai border is the defining feature. A rich aubergine ground is layered with elaborate antique-gold appearance zari, including a stately procession of Mayil, or peacock, motifs, finely worked floral registers and a broad geometric chevron band. Slender forest-green and rust-orange accents appear through the composition, giving the dark border additional depth without disturbing its traditional character.
The pallu becomes dramatically more ornate, opening into a dense field of antique-gold appearance zari over deep aubergine. Intricate geometric grids, floral medallion forms and repeated peacock-inspired ornament create the richness and scale of an heirloom ceremonial textile.
The palette is especially sophisticated: cool ivory with a whisper of green, dark aubergine, antique gold, subtle forest green and touches of rust orange. From a distance the contrast feels composed and restrained; viewed closely, the complexity of the colour and weaving becomes remarkably rich.
Styling: Keep the blouse close to the aubergine border for a classical treatment, or choose the same pale ivory-green family for a quieter tonal look. Antique-gold jewellery with one deep green accent will echo the border beautifully. Keep the pallu open enough to show the density of the zari work.
