Ivory and Forest Green Handwoven Pure Silk Kanchi Pattu Saree with Zari Kattam Body and Green Selvedge Border
Ivory and Forest Green Handwoven Pure Silk Kanchi Pattu Saree with Zari Kattam Body and Green Selvedge Border
Ivory and forest green is one of the most serene and auspicious colour combinations in the Kanchipuram canon — the pale luminosity of ivory silk meeting the deep authority of forest green at the selvedge (the woven finished edge of the fabric), the two held together by the gold of the Zari Kattam weave. Each saree takes 8–12 days on the loom and cannot be replicated by machine. Woven by our family's artisan weaver families in Kunnam village near Kanchipuram, Tamil Nadu — read our story.
The ivory body is woven in Zari Kattam, where fine zari threads intersect across the silk body to form a luminous grid. The Zari Kattam grid on ivory creates a body of great delicacy — the gold barely visible until the light catches it. This classic Kerala festive palette — ivory, green, and gold — suits Onam, Vishu, and temple occasions with quiet authority.
The border is defined by a forest green selvedge — a clean, unadorned colour at the outer edge that frames the ivory body with understated precision. The pallu continues in the same ivory Zari Kattam ground. An excellent gift for Onam.
Styling: Classically suited to Onam, Vishu, Seemantham, naming ceremonies, and temple occasions. An ivory or cream silk blouse is the natural choice; a forest green blouse picks up the selvedge. Pair with antique gold or uncut diamond jewellery.
