Ivory and Gold Handwoven Pure Silk Kanchipuram Saree with Multicolour Temple Korvai Border

This exquisite saree showcases the remarkable depth of the eight-shuttle Ettukol weave. Ettukol: eight-shuttle weave creates layered interlacements with distinctive depth and texture. The multicolour Korvai border is woven using a two-loom process, in which the body and border are woven separately and structurally interlocked on the loom — each saree takes 12 days on the loom and cannot be replicated by machine. The ivory body is woven in pure mulberry silk using the eight-shuttle Ettukol technique, giving the fabric a richness and structure rarely found in simpler weaves.

A striking multicolour temple Korvai border frames the body in bold gold zari, royal blue, and deep magenta, echoing the peaked silhouette of South Indian temple gopurams. The pallu carries the same rich zari work through to its edge.
