Golden Ochre Handwoven Pure Silk KanchiPattu Saree with Korvai Border and Silk Thread Buttas
Golden Ochre Handwoven Pure Silk KanchiPattu Saree with Korvai Border and Silk Thread Buttas
Marking the journey into motherhood with a saree that feels like a hug — this golden ochre saree is handwoven in the traditional Korvai technique, where body and border are woven separately and structurally interlocked on the loom. Each saree involves two separate weaving processes — the Korvai construction requires body and border to be woven on separate looms before structural interlocking. 20 days on the loom, and cannot be replicated by machine. Crafted thread by thread by artisan families in Kunnam village in Kanchipuram district. Read our story.
The golden ochre body is woven from pure mulberry silk, its warm tone brought to life with delicately scattered silk thread buttas in jewel-toned hues. These handwoven buttas create a graceful rhythm across the saree while preserving its refined, understated elegance.
The striking raspberry pink Korvai border is richly woven with peacock zari motifs, symbolising beauty, prosperity, and grace — a design deeply rooted in pure silk Kanchipuram ceremonial weaving. The same intricate peacock zari craftsmanship continues into the grand pallu, where gold zari detailing creates a radiant finish.
Style this saree with a matching raspberry pink blouse and antique gold jewellery — a temple-style necklace and jhumkas work beautifully — for a seemantham, a baby shower, or any milestone marking new motherhood. Equally striking for weddings, festive gatherings, or temple visits.
