Gold Beige Handwoven Pure Silk KanchiPattu Saree with Royal Blue Border and Purple Peacock Pallu
Gold Beige Handwoven Pure Silk KanchiPattu Saree with Royal Blue Border and Purple Peacock Pallu
As the priest calls the couple forward for the saptapadi and the mandapam lights catch every thread, this is the saree a mother chooses to hand down at her daughter's muhurtham — Korvai construction means the body and border are woven on separate looms before being structurally interlocked, a technique reserved for Kanchipuram's most ceremonial silks. Each saree involves two separate weaving processes and takes 12 days on the loom and cannot be replicated by machine. Woven by our family's artisan weaver families in Kunnam village near Kanchipuram, Tamil Nadu — read our story.
The body is woven in gold beige pure mulberry silk, structured with fine horizontal gold zari stripes and a repeating diamond-and-floral lattice that catches light along the full length of the drape. Explore more Korvai Kanchipuram silks.
The royal blue border rises into a grand pallu woven in deep purple, where facing gold zari peacocks stand among dense floral vines — the peacock, or mayil, is a traditional emblem of grace and auspiciousness at South Indian weddings. A crimson and teal edge finishes the drape. See our full pure silk Kanchipuram edit.
Pair with a royal blue or purple silk blouse and temple jewellery in gold with rubies or emeralds — this saree is built for the muhurtham, a wedding reception, or a milestone anniversary where the bride or matriarch commands the room.
