18 Days on Loom
Pure Mulberry Silk
Handwoven in Kanchipuram
A Rettapet saree, where the body is left as a plain, luminous field of green so the border can speak. Handwoven by artisan weaver families in Kanchipuram district, Tamil Nadu, for Idam Living. A saree of this complexity represents approximately 18 active days on the loom, with exact weaving time varying according to the individual saree. Read our story.
Border Beneath arai maadam temple motifs, paisleys and florals are woven in zari to form a single gleaming band. Below it runs a line of rust-orange silk-thread weaving, then dark-blue silk thread, and finally a rust-orange selvedge that finishes the edge like a glowing ember.
Pallu A dark-blue seer pallu, where zari falls in even, measured rows, quiet, rhythmic and richly lit.
Styling Pair with a dark-blue or rust-orange silk blouse to echo the border, and let antique gold jewellery complete the look. Lovely for weddings, temple mornings, festive gatherings and meaningful gifting.
