Fresh Leaf Green Handwoven Pure Silk Kanjeevaram Butta Saree with Mayil Gold Zari Border

Fresh Leaf Green Handwoven Pure Silk Kanjeevaram Butta Saree with Mayil Gold Zari Border

Fresh Leaf Green gives this handwoven Pure Silk Kanjeevaram the luminous colour of new foliage after rain. Clear, vivid and alive without becoming neon, the green keeps the body bright and open while the dark contrast border introduces a more dramatic traditional Kanchipuram frame.

❖ Handwoven to order, not mass-produced — each saree is individually woven by hand, thread by thread.

Delicate traditional gold zari buttas are scattered across the body at measured intervals. Their petite scale allows the green silk to remain the dominant surface, creating quiet points of metallic light rather than a heavily ornamented field.

Handwoven in Kanchipuram, Tamil Nadu, for Idam Living. The restrained Butta body develops into a significantly richer border and mundhanai, moving from fresh botanical colour into denser classic-gold ornament and traditional figurative detail. Read our story.

Border: The dark contrast lower edge is richly architectural, with classic gold zari, stylised Mayil forms and ornamental floral detailing. The depth of the contrast gives the Mayil and floral registers greater definition against the luminous Fresh Leaf Green body without requiring the border colour itself to be overstated.

Mundhanai: The pallu becomes considerably more ceremonial, opening into dense classic-gold zari geometry and repeated heritage motifs. The richer concentration of gold creates a strong finish while the vivid green body remains visible as the defining colour story of the saree.

Styling: A tonal Fresh Leaf Green blouse keeps the saree bright and uninterrupted, while antique gold creates a more ceremonial interpretation. Temple jewellery or antique-gold jewellery works naturally with the Mayil border. Add restrained ruby, garnet or emerald accents, jasmine and a metallic or deep-toned clutch to balance the vivid green.

The Fresh Leaf Green and classic-gold palette works naturally for Navratri and Golu gatherings, Vijayadashami, Deepavali, Karthigai Deepam, Indian weddings, temple celebrations, arangetrams, classical performances and other festive occasions, ceremonies, cultural gatherings and special occasions.

Care: Dry clean only. Store folded in a soft muslin cloth away from direct sunlight. Do not spray perfume directly on the silk or zari.

Slight color variations due to screen and lighting; daylight photos/videos available on request.

Why is this Fresh Leaf Green saree classified as Butta?
Butta is the confirmed Kanchipuram classification for this saree. Delicate traditional gold zari buttas are scattered individually across the bright green body, creating measured points of ornament while leaving the luminous silk field open and clearly visible.
How does Fresh Leaf Green differ from a darker traditional green?
Fresh Leaf Green is clearer and more luminous, reminiscent of new foliage after rain. It does not have the deeper bottle-green, forest-green or olive character of darker Kanchipuram shades.
What creates the strong contrast between the body and border?
The body remains vivid Fresh Leaf Green, while the lower edge moves into a dramatically darker contrast silk enriched with classic-gold zari. The exact dark border shade has not been separately confirmed, so the contrast is described without assigning an unsupported colour name.
What motifs appear in the border?
The border includes stylised Mayil forms surrounded by ornamental floral zari detailing. These motifs create a richer figurative register against the dark contrast silk while the body itself remains comparatively restrained.
How does the pallu differ from the body?
The body uses scattered petite zari buttas and a largely open green silk field, while the mundhanai develops into much denser classic-gold geometry with repeated heritage motifs. This creates a stronger ceremonial finish over the shoulder.
How will the Fresh Leaf Green silk and gold zari read under different lighting?
In daylight, the green tends to appear especially clear and foliage-like, while the gold buttas remain small points of light. Under evening lighting, the dark border gains greater depth and the denser gold surfaces of the border and pallu become more prominent.
What jewellery would complement the Mayil border without overwhelming the green?
Antique-gold or temple jewellery connects naturally to the classic zari and Mayil ornament. A restrained emerald, ruby or garnet accent can add colour while allowing the Fresh Leaf Green body to remain the main visual focus.
Is custom blouse stitching available for this Kanchipuram saree?
Yes. Idam Living offers optional custom blouse stitching and embroidery. A tonal Fresh Leaf Green blouse or a restrained antique-gold treatment can complement the saree without requiring the unconfirmed dark border shade to be replicated.
What length and finishing are included with this Butta Kanchipuram?
The saree measures 6.3 m in total, including a 0.8 m running blouse piece. Fall & Pico is complimentary and included as a finishing service. The blouse-piece colour and design should not be assumed unless separately confirmed.
