Forest Green Pure Silk Kanchipuram Varisaipet Saree with Petal Pink & Ivory Pettu

Forest Green Pure Silk Kanchipuram Varisaipet Saree with Petal Pink & Ivory Pettu

Deep Forest Green gives this handwoven Pure Silk Kanchipuram a beautifully grounded richness. Petite gold zari buttas are spaced across the body with restraint, leaving enough uninterrupted silk for the depth of the Karum Pachai green to remain the central visual note.

❖ Handwoven, start to finish. 42 days — dyeing the thread, setting up the loom, and weaving the final piece.

This is a confirmed Varisaipet composition in pure mulberry silk, built through multiple alternating woven bands rather than one dominant border strip. A saree of this type typically represents approximately 16 active days on the loom, although individual weaving time varies. Woven for Idam Living by skilled artisan families in the Kanchipuram district of Tamil Nadu. Read our story.

Body, Border and Pallu: The contrast Varisaipet introduces an unexpectedly soft combination of Petal Pink and Ivory. Rather than one heavy border, the Pettu is built through successive woven registers, with stylized Maanga medallions, fine Seer bands, herringbone zari lines and small geometric floral details creating the layered rhythm associated with traditional Kanchi borders. The meeting of Forest Green with pale pink, Ivory and warm thanga zari gives the saree a particularly refined colour contrast. The multiple narrow bands keep the border intricate without overwhelming the body, allowing the colour relationship itself to become an important part of the design. The pallu softens further into Petal Pink and Ivory, opening into a finely worked zari surface with Kattam and diamond-Jaal geometry. Layered gold bands frame the woven field before the Deep Forest Green edge returns to close the composition. The result is old-Kanchi in spirit, but unusually gentle in palette. Current Look

Rich green with a contrasting pink pallu has recently returned to the celebrity saree conversation, a colour pairing that feels both traditional and unexpectedly fresh. This Kanchipuram interprets the same green-and-pink tension through a quieter old-Kanchi vocabulary, adding Ivory silk, warm thanga zari and a finely layered Varisaipet.

Styling: A Deep Forest Green blouse keeps the body uninterrupted, while Petal Pink creates a softer contrast that brings the Varisaipet forward. Antique temple gold works naturally with the thanga zari, while pearls or pale pink stones can lighten the styling for Navratri gatherings, Deepavali celebrations, wedding ceremonies and cultural evenings.
