Dusty Rose Handwoven Pure Silk Kanjipuram Saree with Maroon Zari Border
Dusty Rose Handwoven Pure Silk Kanjipuram Saree with Maroon Zari Border
A gift for a sister — silk that says more than words, and this handwoven Pure Kanjipuram silk saree in a muted dusty rose with delicate Kili Butta (Parrot Butta) motifs is exactly the kind that lingers in memory. This classic Butta weave is cherished for its evenly spaced zari motifs, which let the natural sheen of the silk remain the true focal point of the drape. Each saree takes an estimated 8 days on the loom and cannot be replicated by machine (days on loom estimated — please confirm). This saree is handwoven by our partner weaver families in Kunnam village in Kanchipuram district — read our story.
The body is woven from pure mulberry silk in a soft dusty rose, offering a graceful fall and natural lustre. Evenly spaced Kili Butta (Parrot Butta) motifs are worked in lustrous zari across the body, a traditional symbol woven into Kanchipuram ceremonial silks for generations.
The contrast maroon border is richly woven with antique gold zari featuring majestic yali motifs, ornamental vines, and intricate temple-inspired detailing — motifs long associated with strength and protection in South Indian weaving tradition. The matching pallu continues the same elaborate zari craftsmanship, creating a beautifully balanced finish.
This saree is a lovely choice for weddings, festive celebrations, temple visits, family gatherings, and elegant daytime occasions. Pair the maroon border with a self-colour dusty rose or contrasting maroon silk blouse, and complete the look with gold temple jewellery — a classic jhumka and a delicate gold vanki for the arm.
