Dusty Mauve-Lilac Handwoven Pure Silk Kanchipuram Saree with Zari Kattam and Kathiripoo Gold Zari Border

A dusky Mauve-Lilac Pure Silk Kanchipuram with the softness of faded lotus petals and dusty lavender at dusk. The muted body is framed by a much deeper Kathiripoo purple, close to aubergine blossom and black-grape skin under warm light, giving the saree depth without shifting the body into pink or bright violet.

The body is a confirmed Zari Kattam, expressed here through an exceptionally fine and closely set structure that gives the silk a delicate peppered rhythm. Small classic-gold zari buttas are scattered with restraint across the Mauve-Lilac field, allowing the quieter body colour to remain clearly visible.

Handwoven in Kanchipuram, Tamil Nadu, for Idam Living. The restrained body develops gradually into a substantially richer border and mundhanai, creating the traditional progression from finely textured silk to concentrated ceremonial ornament. Read our story.

Border: The contrast turns to deep Kathiripoo purple and is worked with broad classic-gold ornamental registers. Stylised floral and leaf scrollwork moves through the larger bands, framed by finer geometric lines that give the border an ordered architectural rhythm.

Mundhanai: The pallu becomes considerably denser. Small repeating leaf or seed-like zari forms spread across the deep purple field, accompanied by long architectural gold-zari bands. The higher concentration of classic gold gives the mundhanai the stately finish associated with richly worked Kanchipuram silk.

Styling: A deep Kathiripoo blouse strengthens the dark border and pallu, while Dusty Mauve-Lilac creates a quieter tonal continuation. Antique-gold jewellery works naturally with the warm zari. For a softer interpretation, add pearls or restrained amethyst accents, with an aubergine, muted mauve or antique-gold clutch.

The mauve, aubergine and gold palette works naturally for Navratri gatherings, Vijayadashami, Deepavali celebrations, Indian weddings, evening receptions, temple programs, arangetrams, classical performances and other festive occasions, ceremonies, cultural gatherings and special occasions.

Care: Dry clean only. Store folded in a soft muslin cloth away from direct sunlight. Do not spray perfume directly on the silk or zari.
