Deepest Black Handwoven Pure Silk Kanchipuram Saree with Vairaoosi Kanchana Undertone
Deepest Black Handwoven Pure Silk Kanchipuram Saree with Vairaoosi Kanchana Undertone
A Bharatanatyam arangetram — a dancer's debut performance — deserves a saree with presence, and this Deepest Black Pure Silk Kanchipuram saree, lifted by a subtle Kanchana golden undertone, delivers it. Fine needle-like zari lines are woven continuously across the body, creating a delicate all-over shimmer — the signature of Vairaoosi weaving. Each saree takes 45 days from dyeing to weaving and cannot be replicated by machine. Our artisan partners in Kunnam village in Kanchipuram district hand-weave every saree we sell. Read our story.
❖ Handwoven to order, not mass-produced.
Handwoven to order over 45 days — dyeing through to the final weave, no two pieces identical.
The body carries a striking deepest black with a subtle Kanchana (golden) undertone, in pure mulberry silk, illuminated with fine gold Vairaoosi lines and traditional zari buttas across the surface. Discover more Vairaoosi Kanchipuram silks.
An elaborate gold zari border, worked with peacock motifs and geometric detailing, frames the drape and carries into the pallu — a fitting finish for a performance saree meant to catch stage light.
Styling Tip
Where fresh flowers are worn, choose deep gold marigold or champa to echo the Kanchana undertone rather than compete with it. Antique-gold jhumkas and a wide gold zari border are already plenty — keep the blouse self-colour black and let the Vairaoosi shimmer carry the movement on stage.
Blouse Piece Included: 0.8m self-colour black silk. Complimentary custom stitching through Aug 27 ($30 value) — see our Blouse Stitching Guide.
