Deep Violet Handwoven Pure Silk KanchiPattu Vaira Saree with Arakku Red Yazhi Zari Border
Deep Violet Handwoven Pure Silk KanchiPattu Vaira Saree with Arakku Red Yazhi Zari Border
Deep Violet gives this handwoven Pure Silk KanchiPattu Vaira saree a jewel-like intensity. Across the body, extremely fine metallic lines run in close succession, creating a delicate striped rhythm that changes subtly as the silk catches the light. Petite gold zari buttas appear at measured intervals, bringing small flashes of ornament to an otherwise beautifully disciplined body.

This is a confirmed Vaira composition in pure mulberry silk, distinguished by its extremely fine horizontal metallic lines running in close succession across the body. Woven for Idam Living by skilled artisan families in the Kanchipuram district of Tamil Nadu. Read our story.
Body, Border and Pallu: The transition into Arakku Red introduces a much stronger ceremonial note. Here the fine lines of the body give way to broad expanses of luminous zari, while the deeper red silk creates a rich frame for the border. The contrast between Violet, Arakku and gold feels traditional yet unusually graphic. The defining detail is the procession of handwoven Yazhis across the border. Each stylised form is lined up within a broad gold zari register, producing a continuous rhythmic band across the saree. Fine ornamental separators frame the Yazhis, while a broad lattice-textured gold zari field beneath them gives the border remarkable scale and brilliance. The pallu is equally elaborate. Deep Arakku silk is extensively covered in gold zari, with a dense geometric central field and richly detailed ornamental registers running along its length. The concentration of weaving makes the pallu a dramatic counterpoint to the finely lined Violet body. Explore the Vaira collection, or browse the wider pure silk Kanchipuram collection for more of this character.
Styling: Style it with an Arakku blouse for continuity or Deep Violet for a more tonal finish, paired with antique-gold jewellery and a polished low bun.
