The Butta Edit·Kuvalai
Deep Violet Checked Butta Pure Kanchipuram Silk Saree with Ornate Zari Border
Deep Violet Checked Butta Pure Kanchipuram Silk Saree with Ornate Zari Border
Pure Kanchipuram Silk in a deep violet like the last light over Kathiripoo blossoms, crossed with hair-fine pale zari lines that form an exquisite miniature kattam. Tiny gold-toned medallions and stylised floral/paisley-like buttas appear at measured intervals, each glowing like a small lamp against the violet silk. The contrast is stately, intricate and unmistakably Kanchi.
❖ Woven on traditional handlooms by artisan families in Kanchipuram, Tamil Nadu, where generations of weaving knowledge shape every saree. Approximately 16 active days on the loom, followed by careful finishing.

16 Days on Loom
Pure Mulberry Silk
Handwoven in Kanchipuram
A Butta composition, with small motifs set at measured intervals across a finely checked silk ground. Handwoven by artisan weaver families in Kanchipuram district, Tamil Nadu, for Idam Living. A saree of this complexity represents approximately 16 active days on the loom, with exact weaving time varying according to the individual saree. Read our story.
Border Multiple stacked zari registers — a fine floral scroll, repeated leaf and lotus-like bands, a broad smooth lustrous zari panel and narrow ornamental edges — finished with a narrow deep blue-green edge.
Pallu The grand pallu is densely covered with a close-set square lattice of alternating circular floral chakram and curved maanga/paisley-like motifs, ending in a coordinated ornamented border.
Styling Pair with a warm ivory or antique-gold-toned blouse and temple-inspired earrings. Ideal for weddings, receptions, temple occasions and family celebrations.
