Deep Royal Blue Handwoven Pure Silk Kanjivaram Rettapet Saree with Twin Peacock Border
Deep Royal Blue Handwoven Pure Silk Kanjivaram Rettapet Saree with Twin Peacock Border
For a wedding gathering or a quiet evening of celebration, deep royal blue silk carries the poetry of Kanchipuram: a saturated royal-blue silk, like the sea just after sunset, shifting toward inky indigo in the folds and a whisper of peacock green near the turned edge.
❖ This saree was woven over 18 days on the loom in Kanchipuram, using Silk Mark certified pure silk, by weaver families whose craft has been passed down for generations.

Woven in the Rettapet tradition, this pure mulberry silk saree balances petite elephant buttas across the body with a distinctive double-border composition. A saturated royal-blue silk, like the sea just after sunset, shifting toward inky indigo in the folds and a whisper of peacock green near the turned edge. The closely ordered zari elements bring a measured shimmer rather than an uninterrupted metallic surface. Handwoven by artisan weaver families in Kanchipuram district, Tamil Nadu, for Idam Living. A saree of this complexity represents approximately 18 or more active days on the loom, with exact weaving time varying according to the individual saree. Read our story.
Border: Antique-gold twin peacocks stand in paired ornamental border bands, punctuated by fine geometric rules and a restrained rust-red selvedge. In Kanchipuram terminology, Rettapet describes the double-border arrangement; the paired mayil (peacock) figures have ornamental plumage and floral scrollwork.
Pallu: A ceremonial expanse of closely spaced vertical zari columns, interlaced curving mayil-vanki-inspired forms and kodi-malar accents, set against deep blue. Explore the Rettapet collection, or browse the wider pure silk Kanchipuram collection for more of this character.
Styling: Wear with antique gold, midnight blue or forest-green silk and understated temple jewellery.
