Deep Raspberry Maroon Handwoven Pure Silk Kanjivaram Butta Saree with Antique Gold Zari Buttas, Elephant Motif Border and Vermilion Red Edge

Deep Raspberry Maroon gives this handwoven pure silk Kanjivaram Butta saree a rich yet beautifully restrained character. Small antique-gold zari buttas are individually spaced across the silk, leaving plenty of the lustrous handwoven body visible between each motif.

❖ Handwoven to order, not mass-produced. This piece represents about 28 active days on the loom.

This is a confirmed Butta composition in pure mulberry silk, with small individually spaced zari motifs set against an open silk ground, leaving the body relatively uncluttered between each motif. This particular piece represents approximately 28 active days on the loom, though weaving time varies by piece. Woven for Idam Living by skilled artisan families in the Kanchipuram district of Tamil Nadu. Read our story.

Body, Border and Pallu: The colour moves between deep raspberry, crimson-maroon and richer red tones as the silk catches the light. Against this relatively quiet body, the antique-gold zari appears warm and distinct without making the saree feel overly ornate. The border introduces a traditional elephant motif register framed by fine ornamental and geometric zari bands. A narrow Vermilion Red edge gives the border an additional colour accent and a crisp finish against the deeper body. This is an especially versatile Kanchipuram for celebrations where a traditional silk saree is wanted without an overwhelmingly dense body — the rich colour, spaced buttas and distinctive elephant border work naturally for temple occasions, weddings, festive gatherings and family celebrations.
