Woven in the Zari Kattam tradition, An aubergine-plum maroon silk ground illuminated by a carefully ordered gold zari kattam grid, with petite round zari buttas placed intermittently over the checks. Handwoven by artisan weaver families in Kanchipuram district, Tamil Nadu, for Idam Living. A saree of this complexity represents approximately 16 or more active days on the loom, with exact weaving time varying according to the individual saree. Read our story.
Border: Broad bands of luminous gold zari, including distinctive parrot (kili) motifs amid winding ornamental floral forms, slender geometrical bands and framed gold fields.
Pallu: A grand zari-rich pallu with a densely repeated diamond-grid field beside long vertical decorative panels, one carrying detailed parrot and floral motifs.
Styling: Pair with a solid plum blouse with a deep V neckline and long sleeves, allowing the gold checks to remain dominant. For a festive contrast, choose antique-gold silk with minimal trim. A short gold necklace and softly pinned pleats complement the luminous pallu.
