Woven in the Butta tradition, A warm, dark plum-maroon body suffused with lustrous closely ordered diagonal-looking zari lines; the fine gold movement changes across the folds, creating a burnished-bronze effect throughout the silk. Handwoven by artisan weaver families in Kanchipuram district, Tamil Nadu, for Idam Living. A saree of this complexity represents approximately 14 or more active days on the loom, with exact weaving time varying according to the individual saree. Read our story.
Border: An exceptionally wide antique-gold border with two majestic peacock-motif panels and a fine mayil-kann-inspired eye-pattern register between the floral and geometric zari details. Repeated small ornamental borders frame the main imagery.
Pallu: A grand maroon-and-gold pallu filled with small diamond registers, striking zari bands and multiple panels of scrolling floral and stylised bird detailing.
Styling: Keep the blouse in solid deep maroon with short structured sleeves so the peacock border remains the centrepiece, or try bronze tissue silk with a modest neckline for a wedding reception. A single gold cuff and antique jhumkas make an elegant pairing.
