Deep Paaku Brown Handwoven Pure Silk Kanjipuram Saree with Malli Moggu Zari Buttas and Burnt Orange Border
Deep Paaku Brown Handwoven Pure Silk Kanjipuram Saree with Malli Moggu Zari Buttas and Burnt Orange Border
This handwoven pure silk Kanjipuram has a beautifully restrained, old-world colour story. The body is a deep Paaku brown, an intense betel-nut shade that turns almost black in shadow and reveals subtle reddish warmth as the silk catches the light.
❖ Handwoven, start to finish. 40 days — dyeing the thread, setting up the loom, and weaving the final piece.

The body follows a classic Butta composition, with slender Malli Moggu zari buttas spaced individually across the dark silk. Their elongated jasmine-bud form creates a quiet vertical rhythm, adding delicacy without disturbing the minimal character of the body. Explore our pure silk Kanchipuram collection.
The border is deliberately narrow. Burnt-orange silk frames the Paaku body with fine antique-gold appearance zari lines, creating a warm, precise edge rather than a broad ornamental statement. Against the near-black depth of the silk, the orange feels especially vivid.
The pallu changes the colour balance more dramatically, opening into a saturated burnt-orange field with fine gold zari lines and elongated accents. The ornament remains relatively restrained, allowing the contrast between dark Paaku brown and intense orange to carry the composition.
The result is earthy, sophisticated and quietly traditional: a dark Paaku silk body, delicate Malli Moggu zari and a narrow orange-and-gold finish that feels distinctive without becoming ornate.
Styling: Keep the blouse deep and tonal in Paaku brown, dark chocolate or burnt orange. Antique-gold earrings or one traditional necklace are enough. Avoid overly elaborate jewellery so the slender Malli Moggu buttas and unusual dark body remain the focus.
