Deep Neelam Blue Handwoven Pure Silk Kanjivaram Zari Kattam Saree with Classic Gold Zari Border

Deep Neelam Blue Handwoven Pure Silk Kanjivaram Zari Kattam Saree with Classic Gold Zari Border

Deep Neelam Blue gives this handwoven Pure Silk Kanjivaram the saturated colour of the evening sky immediately after sunset. Fine classic-gold Zari Kattam runs through the body, introducing quiet structure and flashes of warm light as the folds move.

Handwoven in Kanchipuram, Tamil Nadu, for Idam Living. The disciplined Kattam body remains visually clean before giving way to a much richer ceremonial lower border. Read our story.

Border: Dense classic-gold zari is arranged through repeating ornamental curves, floral forms and traditional geometric registers. The contrast between cool Deep Neelam silk and warm gold recalls lamplight reflected across deep blue water.

Styling: A tonal Deep Neelam blouse keeps the jewel blue uninterrupted, while antique gold creates a more ceremonial treatment. Arakku or Kumkumam can introduce a traditional contrast. Pair with temple jewellery, pearls or restrained ruby and emerald accents.

The Deep Neelam and classic-gold palette works naturally for temple celebrations, Deepavali, weddings, receptions, arangetrams and other festive occasions, ceremonies, cultural gatherings and special occasions.

Slight color variations due to screen and lighting; daylight photos/videos available on request.

Frequently bought together

What defines the Zari Kattam body of this Deep Neelam saree?
Fine classic-gold lines form a measured grid through the body, giving the Deep Neelam silk structure while leaving the blue ground clearly visible.
How would you describe Deep Neelam Blue?
It is a saturated deep blue reminiscent of the evening sky just after sunset. It is cooler and more blue-led than Mayil Kazhuthu or teal.
How does the Kattam behave as the saree moves?
The fine gold lines catch light selectively across folds, so the geometry becomes more or less visible depending on the angle rather than reading as a flat metallic field.
What ornament appears in the border?
The broad border carries dense classic-gold zari with repeating ornamental curves, floral forms and traditional geometric registers.
Why does the border appear richer than the body?
The body uses fine structured gold lines, while the border concentrates a greater amount of ornamental zari into broader registers.
How will Deep Neelam and gold appear under warm lighting?
The blue becomes deeper and the gold more prominent, producing a cooler silk ground against a warmer reflective border.
What blouse direction works naturally with this saree?
Deep Neelam gives a tonal treatment, antique gold creates ceremonial richness, and Arakku or Kumkumam can introduce a stronger traditional contrast.
Is custom blouse stitching available?
Yes. Idam Living offers optional custom blouse stitching and embroidery. The blouse can reference the Deep Neelam body or the classic-gold border without needing to reproduce the entire woven design.
What length and finishing are included?
The saree measures 6.3 m including a 0.8 m running blouse piece. Fall & Pico is complimentary and included.
