Deep Maroon Handwoven Pure Silk Kanjipuram Saree with Rettapet Vermilion Selvedge

Deep Maroon Handwoven Pure Silk Kanjipuram Saree with Rettapet Vermilion Selvedge

Return gifting with a Kanjeevaram — a small gesture, remembered for years, and this handwoven Pure Kanjipuram silk saree in a rich deep maroon with a vibrant vermilion selvedge, woven in the traditional Rettapet style, is a timeless choice. Rettapet: twin parallel border lines create a balanced layered edge. Each saree takes an estimated 9 days on the loom and cannot be replicated by machine (days on loom estimated — please confirm). Woven with care by our family's artisan partners in Kunnam village in Kanchipuram district — read our story.

The body is woven in pure mulberry silk with a luxurious natural sheen that enhances the richness of the deep maroon tone, edged with a vermilion selvedge. The hallmark Rettapet twin parallel borders lend remarkable symmetry, strength, and elegance to this classic Kanchipuram silk saree.

The ornate antique gold zari border features beautifully detailed yali motifs and traditional decorative bands, reflecting centuries of Kanchipuram weaving heritage. The grand pallu mirrors the same intricate zari work.

A perfect choice for weddings, festivals, temple occasions, and cherished family celebrations. Pair the deep maroon body with an ivory or vermilion silk blouse, and complete the look with antique gold temple jewellery — a classic jhumka and delicate vanki.
