A saree with the transparency Chanderi is famous for — deep magenta woven so fine it's known as "woven air." This is a Katan Silk Chanderi: woven with tightly twisted pure silk in the weft and fine silk in the warp, using the extra-weft technique for its zari motifs. Because the fabric skips the degumming process, it stays exceptionally lightweight and transparent, with a more structured drape than a silk-cotton blend. Handwoven by the weavers' collective in Ashok Nagar, Chanderi, Madhya Pradesh. Read our Chanderi silk guide or learn about the four types of Chanderi silk.

The body is woven in deep magenta pure silk with fine horizontal gold pinstripes running throughout, each broken into a delicate dashed pattern rather than a solid line. Explore our full Chanderi pure silk saree collection.

The standout feature is an elaborate scalloped border woven in a feather-and-wave motif along one edge, in gold zari against the magenta ground, finished with a crisp red trim. The pallu opens into wide gold zari stripes with a soft lavender accent band at the very end.

Pair with a red or gold silk blouse and antique gold jewellery — well suited to weddings, receptions, and any occasion where the border is meant to be the centrepiece of the look. See our full guide to styling Chanderi by occasion.
