Deep Kathiripoo Purple Varisaipet Pure Silk Kanchipuram Saree with Sandalwood Gold Border
Deep Kathiripoo Purple Varisaipet Pure Silk Kanchipuram Saree with Sandalwood Gold Border
For an evening wedding or a family celebration where the silk itself should speak, this rich purple Kanchipuram offers a quietly regal presence.
❖ Made to order, not off a shelf. This saree takes approximately 16 active days on the loom, in addition to dyeing, threading and finishing. This is a standard Varisaipet estimate, not an individually recorded production time.
Silk Mark Certified Pure Mulberry Silk Handwoven in Kanchipuram
The body holds a saturated Kathiripoo-inspired purple, reminiscent of a dark violet petal just before dusk. Small, evenly spaced zari buttas appear like flecks of sunlight caught in the shade. Handwoven by artisan weaver families in Kanchipuram district, Tamil Nadu, for Idam Living. Read our story.
Border: Stacked layers of traditional Kanchipuram butta motifs, including annapakshi, yazhi, peacock and kamalam pettu, arranged in an array.
Pallu: An ornate, rich pallu with a grid-zari handwoven lattice of rudraksham, mayil, kamalam and chakram motifs, with vanki and aria madam silk thread bands interwoven into the zari.
Styling: Pair with a plain purple silk blouse or a muted gold blouse, old-gold jhumkas and a single sculptural bangle. The pallu is the statement.
