Woven in the Rettapet tradition, A deep kaapi-brown and plum-maroon silk body, closely traced with shimmering, slender vertical zari lines in an Oosivaanam-inspired treatment and spaced gold Mayil Chakram medallions. Handwoven by artisan weaver families in Kanchipuram district, Tamil Nadu, for Idam Living. A saree of this complexity represents approximately 18 or more active days on the loom, with exact weaving time varying according to the individual saree. Read our story.
Border: A distinctive Rettapet arrangement of two registers, alternating fine red and gold silk-thread lines with gold zari motif bands. The accents recall arakku lacquer red against the rich, dark silk.
Pallu: A densely worked deep-maroon ornamental pallu, where long parallel gold-zari patterned stripes and a richly detailed vertical panel produce a striking architectural rhythm.
Styling: Choose a close-fitting deep plum silk blouse with elbow sleeves and fine red piping, or a plain arakku-red blouse for contrast. Antique gold jhumkas, a low bun and a small cluster of jasmine keep the long zari lines and border in focus.
